You mean the voice speaking in the voiceover in your head? (hahahaha) prax.ca is engineered, created, and maintained by OpenConcept, which is a Canadian web development company based in Ottawa, ON. OpenConcept strives to make web technology relevant for social change and progressive values. Part of this effort means adopting Open Source technology. Which means... yep, you guessed it! This really sweet site is based entirely off of open and free technology.
What can we expect to see over the coming weeks/months from prax.ca? Innovative ideas & campaigns for change. Again the success of prax.ca depends on more people making use of it. Please tell your friends! Perhaps when you tell people about your campaign, include a blurb about prax.ca. You can expect to see several new features added, including petitions, and forums. We hope you enjoy our site and use it often!
The word "prax" is a shortened version of"praxis", which id defined as
"translating ideas into action". The web can be an incredibly powerful
tool for social change. Unfortunately, and ironically the web is most
inaccessible for those who need the change to occur most! By making a
user friendly, free, and dynamic site, we hope to enable those who are
conventionally marginalized, disempowered, or disenfranchised to make
change possible. Again, we are always looking to improve prax.ca, and
the best way to gauge how well we have put our ideas into action; is
with your feedback.
You can start your own campaign by registering your campaign at our get
started page. The sign up is pretty simple, you will need to check your
email (it's one way we make sure that all the emails are valid and
people aren't signing up thousands of accounts), and you should be
ready to go in a few minutes. To participate, you don't even need to
sign up or have an account! Bookmark the page! Cruise around and get
involved. Prax.ca is a place where all sorts of people are trying to
raise their voice in and beyond their community, so listen up!.
You! If you are trying to make change, and have been limited by things
such as finances, technology, resources, know-how, etc. prax.ca is the
place you need to be. In other words, if you would like your campaign
to include a web-campaign, but don't know how, we're here for you!
The term "beta" is used to explain that the site is in it's testing
stage, you are welcome to use it as though it were officially released,
but keep in mind that we are still ironing out some kinks, and some
features are not available. To make this happen sooner, we need more
people to use the site, and more people to give us suggestions, bug
reports and feedback. Please contact us
prax.ca is a new and innovative site for dedicated social action and
community change. prax.ca offers tools such as email actions,
newsletters, webpages, and more for groups and communities trying to
make change.
Prax is an interactive site that requires lots of user input. On the web these days there are lots of hackers/bots out there that attempt to manipulate these user forms. The IP address that you are visiting this site with is listed in a database.
If you get this message:
"Your data submission was ignored because you are visiting from a blacklisted location."You can either try to submit the form from another computer or location, or you can send us the IP address that is listed below and we will put you on a white list with access:
38.107.191.117
When we've got your IP address we can put you on a whitelist so that you can participate in the action. It isn't about the email, but where you are connecting to the net from. To check your IP address yourself.
